from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Reinhold Mai (* 1951 ) is a retired German bank manager and was CEO of Sparkasse Lüneburg from 2009 to 2016 .

Life

Karl Reinhold Mai has been a member of the board of directors of the public-law Sparkasse Lüneburg since 1997 , which is based in Lüneburg and whose business area is the Lüneburg region. Initially, Mai was Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and, as Chief Sales Officer, he represented the Lüneburger Sparkasse in the dual leadership that is customary in Lower Saxony, together with the then Chairman of the Management Board Holger Dressler. A merger between Sparkasse Lüneburg and Sparkasse Harburg-Buxtehude , which Dressler and Mai had advocated since 2007 , has not yet materialized, as the desired merger in May 2009 did not find a majority in the Lüneburg city council .

As Dressler after 14 years on the Board in August 2009, retired in May, has been approved by the Board of the Savings Bank with effect from September 1, 2009 for the new CEO chosen. Mai's successor as Chief Sales Officer since the beginning of 2010 was Thomas Piehl, who previously worked at Hamburger Sparkasse . Mai retired on July 1, 2016, while Thomas Piehl took over the position of CEO.
