The “Süderelbe AG Growth Initiative” was founded as a small stock corporation in December 2004 on the initiative of savings banks, districts / municipalities and companies from the federal states of Lower Saxony and Hamburg and is organized as a public-private partnership . Her goals include "economic growth, value creation and job creation."

The company's shares are held by almost 100 shareholders (as of August 2019). Olaf Krüger has been the company's board member since January 1, 2015. Cluster development division

In the areas of manpower / qualification, port and logistics, the food industry, aviation and location management, the company complements classic economic development in the region with its work on clusters :

In the food industry, Süderelbe AG supports (mostly medium-sized) companies in increasing their competitiveness. “Foodactive” is implemented in the districts of Harburg, Lüneburg, Stade, Uelzen and Lüchow-Dannenberg.

With the South Office, Süderelbe AG represents the southern Hamburg metropolitan region as part of the activities of the Hamburg Logistics Initiative.

The "Regional and Network Management Logistics" aims to improve the framework for innovative and sustainable logistics services. It is a project of the economic development agencies of the districts of Cuxhaven, Harburg, Lüneburg, Heidekreis, Stade and Uelzen as well as the Süderelbe AG. Start-up funding was provided through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for implementation .

Positioning the southern metropolitan region of Hamburg in the national and international competition for locations is one of the main tasks of Süderelbe AG.

Süderelbe AG helped initiate the nationwide Supply Chain Excellence Initiative (SCE). Süderelbe AG has been responsible for the implementation of the North Program Office since 2015. The aim of the SCE is to accompany and support companies in the aviation supply industry during structural change and, in particular, to further increase global competitiveness in Germany as an aviation location.

The international ZIM cooperation network for sustainable packaging solutions and materials bio2pack aims to build up a solution portfolio for the use of natural raw materials in ecological, sustainable materials and thus actively face the challenges of efficient, ecologically acceptable packaging and material alternatives.

The “Competence Center New Materials and Production - KNMP” is an initiative in the southern Hamburg metropolitan region, which facilitates access to and processing of new materials for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and at the same time supports the development of new production techniques for lightweight materials.

Real estate division

With the real estate division, Süderelbe AG offers companies, project developers and investors the development and sale of commercial and logistics space, inner-city real estate and investments in the southern metropolitan region of Hamburg. In addition, the business division searches for locations, brokers properties, brings users and investors together, accompanies purchase negotiations and supports planning and approval processes with the responsible authorities. In 2011 a “market report on the demand for industrial and commercial space in the south of Hamburg” was published. Since 2005 "237 hectares of land and around 317,000 square meters of gross floor area have been marketed".

In 2017, Süderelbe AG was able to develop the approx. The 28 hectare commercial and logistics area "LogIn Park Elsdorf", located directly on the A1 motorway at the Zeven / Elsdorf junction, can be completely marketed in just five months. An extension by approx. 22 ha is currently being planned.

In September 2019, a real estate market report for the entire Süderelbe region was published for the first time. The residential and logistics asset classes were taken into account in the districts of Stade, Harburg, Lüneburg and the Hamburg-Harburg district.

Special

In October 2006, Süderelbe AG was recognized as “exemplary” in the nationwide competition for intermunicipal cooperation “kommKOOP”. The corporation was able to prevail among 167 regions nationwide. The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning announced the competition in May 2005.

The aerospace initiative of the state of Lower Saxony "Niedersachsen Aviation" was evaluated in 2011 with "very good". The Lower Saxony Innovation Center rated the initiative's work with 34 out of 35 possible points. The state initiative is being implemented by a project consortium from LogisticNetwork Consultants GmbH and Süderelbe AG.

The so-called "Hesse report" by Joachim Jens Hesse highlights the Süderelbe AG as an example of regional cooperation: "The cooperation is already making a significant contribution to the professionalization and networking of regional business promotion and regional development and has achieved numerous settlement successes."
