Karl Schuhmann (philosopher)

Karl Schuhmann (born March 19, 1941 in Hausen-Steinfeld , † March 18, 2003 in Utrecht ) was a German philosopher and professor for the history of philosophy .

Schuhmann studied philosophy at the University of Munich , the Esslingen University of Education and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven . It is there that he has been working at the Husserl archive since 1967 and edited writings from Edmund Husserl's estate . In 1975 Schuhmann moved to Utrecht University , where he held the chair for the history of philosophy until his death.
