Karl Sigmund Mayr

Karl Sigmund Mayr (born May 3, 1906 in Nuremberg , † July 19, 1978 in Fürth ) was a German economist and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Mayr began studying economics, which he completed in 1929 with an examination for a degree in economics and a doctorate. He initially worked as a tax advisor and since 1932 he was active as a book auditor and accountant in Nuremberg. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . Most recently he was taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1946.

Political party

Mayr was one of the co-founders of the CSU in Fürth in 1946 and was chairman of the CSU district association for Middle Franconia from 1946 to 1952 . From 1946 to 1953 and from 1955 to 1957 he was a member of the CSU state executive. From 1950 to 1953 he served as the party's deputy chairman and from 1955 to 1957 he was the second state treasurer of the Christian Socials.

MP

Mayr was a member of the Bavarian State Constituent Assembly from July to November 1946 . In 1948/49 he was a member of the Parliamentary Council . As a delegate of the Bavarian State Parliament, Mayr was a member of the first Federal Assembly , which elected Theodor Heuss as the first German Federal President in 1949 .
