Karl Sonntag (politician)

Karl Sonntag (born July 24, 1915 in Sparneck ; † October 11, 1982 ibid) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Sunday first attended the elementary school in Sparneck, later the Jean-Paul-Gymnasium in Hof an der Saale , which he left with the Abitur. After working in the Reich Labor Service and the Wehrmacht, he worked as an officer in World War II, took part in the French campaign before going to Russia in 1942, where he was held prisoner for three years . After his dismissal he was employed in the textile industry and later joined the trade union, he was also a member of the VdK and the Association of Homecomers . In 1955 he became the second mayor of his home parish for a year, and the following year he moved to the Münchberg district council. In March 1959 he was elected the first mayor of Sparneck. The year before, he moved into the Bavarian State Parliament for the first time , to which he was a member until 1974. He was always able to win the direct mandate in the Münchberg , Naila district . Most recently he was one of the secretaries in the state parliament.
