Karl Spinnler

Karl Wilhelm Spinnler (born April 17, 1875 in Liestal ; † May 18, 1936 there ; authorized to live there ) was a Swiss engineer and politician .

Life

Spinnler studied at the Technikum Winterthur , in Paris and at the Technical University of Dresden . Specializing in mountain railways , he was internationally active and managed, among other things, the construction of the new route for the Wengernalpbahn , which opened in 1910. In 1911 he created the Philippines , the railway Manila-Baguio on behalf of the American colonial authorities.

After Spinnler had done active service in World War I , he settled in Zurich and later in Liestal. As FDP - government councilor of the canton of Basel-Landschaft , he headed the building department from 1922 to 1925. From 1927 to 1936 he sat on the municipal council in Liestal and was chairman of the construction and sewerage department.
