Karl Stahr

Karl Stahr (born May 5, 1945 in Neumarkt , Silesia) is a German agricultural scientist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Cannstatt , Stahr studied geology at the University of Stuttgart and graduated as a geologist in 1969. After a three-year doctoral period at the Institute for Soil Science at the University of Hohenheim, he obtained his doctorate at the University of Stuttgart. rer. nat. 1972. He then moved to the Institute for Soil Science and Forest Nutrition at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau as a scientific assistant . The habilitation with Venia legendi in soil science took place in 1979 in Freiburg, where he was appointed private lecturer. In 1980 Stahr accepted the position as professor for regional soil science at the Institute for Ecology at the TU Berlin , in 1988 he followed the call as professor for general soil science with rock science at the University of Hohenheim . He held this position until his retirement in 2013. Teaching positions took him to the universities of FU Berlin, Freiburg, Tübingen and Stuttgart.

Scientifically, Stahr is concerned with soil development, including paleo soils, in southwest Germany; geological site studies in Central Europe; Soil mineralogy , particularly rare soil minerals; Development of the carbon and nitrogen balance in agro-ecosystems ; Emission of climate-relevant gases from soils; and soil development, soil distribution and geological geography in tropical and subtropical areas
