Karl Steidl

Karl Steidl (born October 29, 1896 in Jois ; † October 5, 1967 ibid) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( SPÖ ). He was a member of the Federal Council from 1946 to 1949 and a member of the Burgenland state parliament from 1949 to 1964 .

Life

Steidl was born as the son of the farmer Karl Steidl from Jois and attended elementary school in his hometown. He then worked as a farmer, having to do military service from 1915 to 1918 during the First World War . He then worked as a farmer, winegrower and contractor, where he had to serve again in the Wehrmacht from 1941 to 1945 during the Second World War . In 1961 Steidl was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

Steidl was married.

Steidl joined the Social Democratic Party in 1925 and was local party chairman in Jois. He then acted as mayor from 1931 to 1933 and was also a councilor in the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture between 1931 and 1934 . After the Second World War, Steidl became secretary of the Austrian Labor Farmers' Association in Burgenland on March 17, 1946, represented the Burgenland SPÖ in the Federal Council from July 19, 1946 to November 4, 1949 and was a member of the Federal Council from November 4, 1949 to April 17, 1964 Burgenland Landtag.
