Karl Stephan (Provost)
Karl Stephan (* 1700 in Geiselhöring ; † April 16, 1770 in Reichersberg ) was provost of the Reichersberg Abbey .
Life
Karl Stephan took his religious vows in Reichersberg in 1722, was ordained a priest in 1725 and then served for several years in pastoral care , initially as a local cooperator and later as a pastor in Edlitz . After he had administered the monastery properties in Lower Austria for 17 years, he was elected provost on March 12, 1752 as the successor of the late Mathias Führer, and on May 23 he was appointed provost in Passau Cathedral. During his eighteen years in office, he had the interior of the collegiate church upgraded and partially renewed. The library also grew considerably under him. When he died, he left the pen in good order.
