Karl Uschner

Karl August Wilhelm Uschner (born August 1, 1802 in Lübben , † July 26, 1876 in Opole ) was a German poet and translator of ancient poetry.

Karl Uschner, born in Niederlausitz , attended the Lyceum in his hometown, from 1817 the grammar school in Luckau and studied law in Leipzig and Berlin since 1820 . In 1823 he entered the civil service as an auscultator at the city court in Berlin and became a trainee lawyer at the higher regional court in Frankfurt (Oder) in 1825, assessor at the higher regional court in Marienwerder, 1832 regional judge in Wittenberg and finally in 1836 higher regional judge in Ratibor . Retired in 1868 as a Privy Councilor of Justice , he died on July 26, 1876 in Opole.

Encouraged by his younger brother, the history painter Julius Uschner , he published stories and poems. Later he devoted himself to the translation of ancient poems.

In 1832 Uschner married Agnes Wilhelmine Löscher, who died on August 25, 1835. He had two children with her.
