Karl Wollinger

Karl Josef Wollinger (born May 26, 1877 in Sankt Gotthard an der Raab , † September 13, 1945 in Graz ) was an Austrian farmer, mill owner and politician ( GDVP ). He was a member of the Burgenland Landtag and a member of the National Council .

Life

Wollinger was born as the son of the landowner Karl Wilhelm Wollinger from Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitz valley . His father came from Bingen am Rhein. Wollinger attended elementary school and at the philosophical faculty of the Technical University in Graz. In 1904, Wollinger took over his father's business in Heiligenkreuz and, after being imprisoned several times, fled to Austria in 1919 because of its friendliness.

Wollinger was married.

From January 27, 1922, Wollinger was a member of the administrative office for Burgenland and helped found the Greater German People's Party in Burgenland. He became their first chairman in 1922 and was a permanent member of the state party executive, where he always held the function of 1st or 2nd chairman. From June 21, 1931 until its dissolution in 1934, Wollinger was the sole chairman of the state party.

Wollinger was a member of the Burgenland Landtag between May 20, 1927 and March 5, 1930, and a member of the National Council between July 13, 1922 and November 20, 1923.

When Austria was annexed to Hitler's Germany, he was mayor of Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitz valley between 1938 and 1941 .
