Charles d'Artois (* probably beginning of 1394; † July 25, 1472 ) was Count of Eu , Seigneur de Saint-Valery and Houdain from 1397 . He was the son of Philippe d'Artois and Marie de Berry , Duchess of Auvergne , and thus a grandson of Jean de Valois, duc de Berry .

At the age of 3 he inherited the county of Eu from his father. At the age of 21 he took part in the Battle of Azincourt in 1415 , in which he was captured by the English. It took 23 years before he was released in 1438, now 44 years old. He became deputy (Lieutenant du Roi) of the king in Normandy and Guyenne and in 1465 at the age of 70, still military governor of Paris .

Ten years after his release, he married Jeanne de Saveuse in 1448, who died the following year. On September 23, 1454 he went into a second marriage with Hélène de Melun, daughter of Jean IV. De Melun , burgrave of Ghent. Both marriages remained childless. Charles died on July 25, 1472, his wife almost exactly a year later to the day, on July 29, 1473. All three, Charles, Jeanne and Hélène, were buried in the Abbey of Eu .

His successor in the county of Eu was his nephew, Count John II of Nevers and Rethel , the son of his sister Bonne d'Artois from her first marriage to Count Philip II of Nevers .
