Karla Máchová
Karla Máchová (born October 21, 1853 in Beroun , † May 16, 1920 in Prague ) was a Bohemian politician . She was the first woman to run for the Bohemian state parliament .
Life
Karla Máchová was dismissed as a primary school teacher because of her social democratic sentiments. After working for several years among Czech immigrants in the United States, she took over the editing of the “Zensky list” in Prague . On January 23, 1908, she was proposed by the Czechoslovak Social Democratic Labor Party as the first woman to run for the municipal state electoral district of Prague IV, VI and VII.
