Karla Sachse (* 1950 in Zschopau , Saxony ) is a German artist who works particularly in the border areas of visual poetry .

Life

Karla Sachse studied art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1969 to 1977 and then did her doctorate. Afterwards she was an artistic assistant in the studio "Bildende Kunst" in Berlin-Lichtenberg (founded in 1976) and worked as a teacher. Since 1982 the artist has been involved in exhibitions as well as mail art and street actions, and since 1988 she has been increasingly concerned with visual poetry. Her artistic work includes room installations and works in public space. In 1993 she received a grant from the Kulturfonds Foundation .

In 1996 Karla Sachse was one of the prize winners in the competition to mark the seven inner-city Berlin border crossings with her work Rabbit Field in Chausseestrasse . In 2005, she successfully participated in the competition for a memorial sign at the house 3 of the district office Pankow in Prenzlauer Allee in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg for the victims of there from 1945 existing to 1956 detention facility of the Soviet secret services and the Ministry of State Security under the title Questions inaugurated . On behalf of the Pankow District Office and in cooperation with Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH , in 2019, under the motto "30 Years of Peaceful Revolution - Fall of the Wall", a commemorative project related to local actors in the form of temporary floor signs in historical locations via QR codes or Link web addresses to corresponding interviews or text-image montages.

Karla Sachse is also active as a curator.
