Karlheinz Bräuer

Karlheinz Bräuer (born October 20, 1924 in Breslau ; † December 9, 2007 in Lohmar ) was a North Rhine-Westphalian politician and member of the SPD .

education

Karlheinz Bräuer graduated from high school in 1942 and was then drafted. During the Soviet captivity, he lost four fingers of his right hand to frostbite. From 1948 to 1953 he was foreman in a textile company. 1953 to 1955 he attended the University of Economics and Politics in Hamburg . In 1955 he received a degree in business administration.

Karlheinz Bräuer had been a member of the metal industry union since 1949. From 1956 to 1967 Bräuer was district secretary of the metal industry union , 1967 to January 1989 district manager of the metal industry union in the Cologne district. He was a member of the DGB regional board since 1968.

Political party

Bräuer had been a member of the SPD Lohmar since 1955 . 1973 to 1979 he was the local association chairman. From 1956 to 1975 he was chairman of the trade union committee of the SPD district of Middle Rhine.

Working group for employee issues

From 1975 to 1979 Bräuer was the deputy district chairman of the Working Group for Employee Issues (AfA) in the Middle Rhine district, from 1979 to 1983 district chairman. Since 1977 he has been a member of the state board of AfA North Rhine-Westphalia, since 1983 chairman.

Karlheinz Bräuer was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament from May 28, 1975 to May 30, 1990 and social policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group . Even before his membership, the state parliament had elected him a member of the fifth federal assembly, which elected Gustav Heinemann as federal president .

Private life

Karlheinz Bräuer was widowed - his wife Melitta died in 2006 - and had two children. On December 9, 2007, Bräuer was found dead in his apartment in Lohmar-Inger.
