Karlheinz Schüffler

Karlheinz Schüffler (* 1947 in Trier ) is a mathematician and organist .

Career

Karlheinz Schüffler grew up in Perl in the Saarland . He studied mathematics and physics at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . In 1978 he received his doctorate. A habilitation took place at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . There he was a private lecturer .

From 1987 to 2015 he was professor of mathematics at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld .

His research areas include minimal area theory , global analysis , differential equations and function theory , where he is particularly interested in the relationships between music and mathematics and mathematics as an ancient cultural science.

As an organist he also learned to conduct choirs and has been active in this area since 1964. At that time he was the youngest choir director in Germany. He leads the choir of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, which he founded in 2013, and the Krefeld Schola Gregoriana . He is the organist of the Walcker organ of the Krefeld Luther Church, which he campaigned for its restoration, and also plays at the oldest church in Krefeld, the Old Church.
