Karol Gąsienica-Szostak (born October 11, 1908 in Zakopane ; † January 26, 1996 there ) was a Polish Nordic skier .

Career

Szostak, who mostly started for SN PTT Zakopane during his career, was Polish champion seven times. While he won the 5 × 10 km relay six times with his club SN PTT, he was individual winner in the Nordic Combined in 1930 before Bronisław Czech . He also won a medal in ski jumping in 1927 from the Łabajów in Wisła as third.

According to the Polish Olympic Committee, Gąsienica-Szostak took part in the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , but did not finish the 18-kilometer race. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 1929 , he finished 25th in ski jumping and thirteenth in Nordic combined. A year later he finished 52nd in the 17 km cross-country skiing at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1930 .
