Karol Mroszczyk

Karol Mroszczyk (born January 24, 1905 in Ciężkowice , † February 1, 1976 in Sopot ) was a Polish composer and music teacher.

Mroszczyk was a violin student of Józef Cetner and studied from 1924 to 1929 at the Kraków Music Academy composition with Bolesław Wallek-Walewski and Bernardin Rizzi and musicology at the Jagiellonian University .

After completing his studies, he taught at the State Teachers 'Seminars in Borunach, Augustów and Vilnius, where he also directed the District Choir of the Polish Teachers' Association. He completed his training as a composer with Tadeusz Szeligowski . From 1940 to 1941 and after the German occupation from 1944 to 1945 he was first violinist of the Lithuanian State Philharmonic. In addition, he gave private lessons and also taught at the State Conservatory of Lithuania from 1944–45.

From 1950 to 1953 he was director of the State Music School No. 2 in Łódź, from 1953 he headed the Music High School and until 1975 taught music theory at the State Music Academy in Łódź . In 1955 he received the Polish Composers' Union Prize for his work Nad o wodzie , and he was also awarded the Golden Cross of Merit (1967) and the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order (1975).
