Karoline Dettmer

Karoline Dettmer (born October 4, 1867 in Stadthagen ; † August 21, 1959 in Minden ) was a German politician in the Weimar Republic and a member of the Reichstag ( SPD ) from January 1930 until the Reichstag was dissolved in the same year.

Life

Dettmer attended elementary school in Stadthagen and later worked as a domestic servant. Since the 1880s she worked with the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in Minden. From 1914, she then worked as a volunteer at the youth welfare office and at the welfare office in Minden. From 1918 to 1920 she was an assessor in the rental agreement office and from 1919 to 1922 a member of the food commission.

Dettmer had been active for the SPD since the 1880s, and in 1919 she became a city councilor in Minden. Until 1928 and again in 1930 she ran unsuccessfully for the Reichstag . In January 1930 she was able to move up to the Reichstag for the late MP Wilhelm Schlueter. However, she only remained a member until the Reichstag was dissolved in September 1930.

After 1945 Dettmer was active in rebuilding the SPD in Minden, and in 1947 she became honorary chairman of the AWO in Minden.
