The Karpatenrundschau - weekly for society, politics and culture is a German-language weekly newspaper in Kronstadt ( Romania ). It has been published since March 1, 1968 as the successor to the Volkszeitung (Kronstadt) founded on May 30, 1957 - organ of the Regional Party Committee and the Stalin Regional People's Council .

Eduard Eisenburger was the founder of the magazine . The name was linked to the semi-monthly publication Die Karpathen , published from 1907 to 1914 and edited by Adolf Meschendörfer .

From the beginning, topics from society, politics and culture have been dealt with, with local history and literary contributions being a focus. Editor-in-chief was initially Eduard Eisenburger, who already held this post at the “Volkszeitung”. Today Ralf Sudrigian runs the newspaper.

After the Romanian Revolution in 1989 , most of the Transylvanians left Saxony and the other German-speaking minorities. The number of readers of the Karpatenrundschau fell drastically. Another independent publication was no longer possible. Since 1996 the newspaper appears as a supplement to the Allgemeine Deutsche Zeitung for Romania on Thursdays with a length of four pages.

The Karpatenrundschau is published by the Foundation for the Promotion of German Literature in Romania ( Romanian Fundația pentru promovarea literaturii germane în România ).
