Karsten Schönfeld

Karsten Schönfeld (born May 18, 1963 in Wittenberg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the German Bundestag.

Life

In 1981 Schönfeld graduated from high school . He then did military service until 1984 . He graduated from the University of Leipzig in 1989 with a degree in agricultural engineering. He then worked as a department head in a farm and later until 1998 as a sales representative for an insurance company. In 1998 he became managing director of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in the Saale-Holzland district association , of which he was also chairman until 2000.

In 1990 Schönfeld joined the SPD. From 1991 to 1994 he was district chairman of the SPD in the Eisenberg district . From 1994 to 2000 he was a member of the district council in the Saale-Holzland district.

Schönfeld was a member of the German Bundestag from 1998 to 2005 . He was twice directly elected member of the Bundestag for the constituencies Gera-Stadt - Eisenberg - Gera-Land I and Gera - Saale-Holzland-Kreis . Most recently he was a member of the electoral review, immunity and rules of procedure and health and social security committees. He was active within the party with the networkers in the Berlin network and, as a member of the Bundestag, was co-editor of their Berlin Republic (magazine) .

In addition, from 2004 to 2007 Schönfeld was honorary chairman of the THW - Landesvereinigung Sachsen und Thüringen eV based in Altenburg .
