The karst spring Gundlfing is a karst spring designated as a natural monument near Riedenburg in Lower Bavaria .
description
The karst spring lies in the middle of the Gundlfing district . It was previously used to operate a mill . The source is contained in a brick basin. Their average flow is 35 l / s. After heavy rain , several hundred liters per second can escape from the Malm limestone. A connection with the sinkholes at Riedenburg-Perletzhofen could be established with the help of contrast water studies. The outflowing Mühlgrabenbach runs partially parallel to the State Road 2230 and flows into the Altmühl after about 540 meters .
Geotope
The karst spring in Gundlfing has been designated as a valuable geotope (geotope number: 273Q002) and natural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment .
