Anti-aging agents
Anti-aging agents are chemical substances that are added to other substances or substance mixtures in order to protect the latter from undesired aging processes or to delay aging. Anti-aging agents are among the additives.

Use in natural and synthetic rubber
In the vulcanization, it is the rubber to anti-aging agents, the by heat, light, ozone - caused, oxygen and heavy metal exposure to adverse aging processes of rubber products to delay. In the rubber industry, for example, substituted phenols [examples: 2,6-di- tert- butyl-4-methylphenol (BHT), 2,2'-methylene-bis (4-methyl-6- tert- butyl-phenol) and 2 , 2'-methylenebis (4-methyl-6-cyclohexyl-phenol)], diarylamines, substituted p - phenylenediamines or heterocyclic mercapto compounds (examples: 2-mercaptobenzimidazoleand methyl-2-mercaptobenzimidazole ) are used as anti-aging agents.

Use in plastics and lubricants
Similar antioxidants , antiozonants, light stabilizers, etc., are used to protect plastics, lubricating oils and greases from undesirable effects of aging . These often act as free radical scavengers and are grouped under the collective names "stabilizers" or "additives". Organozinc compounds (zinc dialkyldithiophosphonates) are sometimes used as antioxidants. The sterically hindered amines ( HALS ) are based on 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine .
