Kaspar Rostrup (born April 27, 1940 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish actor , screenwriter and director .

biography

As early as 1962 Rostrup had his first debut as an actor in the play Fysikerne (The Physicist). From 1966 he completed an actor training at Det Kongelige Teater and at the Aarhus Teater School . After completing his studies, he was from 1968 the artistic director of the Experimental Theater at Vestergade 58 in Aarhus. In the early 1970s he worked as a director on several Danish television series and plays. In 1981 he made his debut as a film director in Jeppe på bjerget . From 1984 to 1992 he was artistic director at the Gladsaxe Teater , where he also created the concept for the so-called total theater . From 1992 he also worked in productions for Nordisk Film .

His film Jeppe på bjerget was nominated for a film award in 1981 at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival .

He had his greatest success as a director and screenwriter for the film Tanzen mit Regitze ( Dansen med Regitze ), which was awarded the Bodil for best Danish film in 1989 and was also awarded the Robert in the same year in the category of best Danish film . Furthermore, this film was nominated for an Oscar in 1990 in the category for best foreign language film .

He also wrote the screenplay and directed the TV series Bryggeren from 1996 and 2000 for Her i nærheden, and in 2006 worked as a director for the series Vores sensommer . From 2006 to 2009 he was Artistic Director at Gladsaxe Ny Teater .
