Katalin Sarlós

Katalin Sarlós (born August 24, 1968 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian rower who was third in the single world championship in 1989 .

Career

At the Junior World Championships she took eighth place in 1984 and fourth place in the single in 1985, and in 1986 she won the bronze medal behind Marion Schmidt from the GDR and Iryna Kalimbet from the Soviet Union. In 1987 she entered the world championships in Copenhagen with the double foursome . The Hungarian foursome with Katalin Sarlós, Ildikó Cserey , Erika Bertényi and Edit Punk came in fifth, over 18 seconds behind the fourth-placed Romanians. At the 1988 Olympic Games , Bertényi, Cserey, Anikó Kapócs and Sarlós rowed in the Hungarian quadruple scull . The Hungarians took last place both in the preliminary run and in the repeat run. In the B-final they reached the finish line second and thus finished eighth in the overall standings.

In 1989, the 1.73 m tall Katalin Sarlós switched back to the single. At the World Championships in Bled , the Romanian Elisabeta Lipă won ahead of Birgit Peter from the GDR, with two and a half seconds behind Peter, Sarlós won the bronze medal ahead of Titie Jordache , who started for the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1990 Sarlós finished eighth at the World Championships in Tasmania . At the 1992 Olympics, last place in the preliminary run and fourth place in the repechage. As the winner of the C-final, she finished 13th overall.
