Kathleen Rockwell Eloise (* 1876 in Junction City , Kansas , † 1957 ) was an American vaudeville -Tänzerin and singer who during Alaska - Gold Rush in 1900 earned a legendary reputation as a "Klondike Kate". There is different information about your date of birth.

Born in Kansas , Kate Rockwell grew up in Spokane, Washington . In 1899 she followed the call of the Klondike gold rush to Alaska .

First she worked as a dancer in Whitehorse , then in Dawson City . Here she met Alexander Pantages , who would later become one of the most successful theater operators in the United States and Canada . The two entered into a legendary private and business partnership.

As the gold rush subsided, Kate Rockwell moved to British Columbia , where she ran a movie theater, and later to Oregon . She could no longer build on her success in Alaska, but she knew how to make money with her memories, weaving vigorously on her legend.

Kate Rockwell died in 1957 as one of the last witnesses to the gold rush. She was the most famous of a number of women who were nicknamed "Klondike Kate".
