Kate Rusby (* 4. December 1973 ) is an English folk - singer who in the district Barnsley , South Yorkshire , England lives.

biography

Kate Rusby grew up in Barnsley . As a child she performed at folk festivals. Before her time as a solo artist, she was the lead singer of the group The Poozies , was a member of the group Equation and recorded the album Kate Rusby & Kathryn Roberts in 1995 with Kathryn Roberts, also from Barnsley . Since 1998, Rusby has released eleven solo albums. She received attention outside of the folk scene with her duet with Irish singer Ronan Keating , All Over Again , a top ten hit in the UK . Kate Rusby has won four BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards : 2000 for Folk Singer of the Year and Best Album , 2002 for Best Original Song and 2006 for Best Live Act .

Against all advice, she founded the record label Pure Records based in Yorkshire . A successful family-run company that takes on recordings, marketing, sales of advertising material and organizing concerts. This gives her the necessary freedom to organize creative processes without pressure.
