Kate Thompson (writer, 1959)

Kate Thompson (born 1959 in Belfast ) is a Northern Irish writer who worked as an actress until 1998 . She also wrote under the pen name Pixie Pirelli .

Life

Thompson was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1959 . She studied English and French literature at Trinity College , Dublin , but first became known as a film and stage actress: in 1989 she won the Best Actress Award at the Dublin Theater Festival . From 1989 to 1998 she played "Terry Killeen" in the Irish soap Opera Glenroe on RTÉ One .

In 1996 Thompson decided to write and her first novel, It Means Mischief (1999; German 2000 as The Lights of Dublin ), became a bestseller. In Ireland, Thompson is relocated near New Island , and since 2009 also with HarperCollins ; Her romantic novels are published in German by Droemer Knaur Verlag in Munich . In 2006 she also published the novel Hard to Choos as Pixie Pirelli .

Thompson has been married to actor Malcolm Douglas since 1985 and has had a daughter since 1987. She lives with her family in Dublin and on the Irish west coast.
