New Island

New Iceland is an Irish publisher of contemporary literature, 1992 under the name New Iceland Books , now, however, was established only under New Iceland operates. The publishing house is in Dublin .

New Island Books came into being after the end of the Raven Arts Press, founded in 1977 by Dermot Bolger (* 1959), as a publishing house for poetry and dramatic literature, especially for young or as yet unknown Irish authors; “Founding editor” was Bolger too. New Island has now become the leading Irish publisher of fiction and non-fiction by contemporary Irish authors. Bolger is no longer represented in the management team; however, most of its work is relocated from New Island . Today's New Island publisher is Edwin Higel (as of early 2009).
