Katharina Herb (born August 20, 1968 in Heidelberg ) is a German opera singer (mezzo-soprano) and cabaret artist .

Life

Her parents encouraged her musical talent and made it possible for her to take piano , violin and guitar lessons . After graduating from high school, she completed a degree in architecture at the University of Karlsruhe. With a degree in engineering, she joined her father's architecture office. She worked there for two years to be able to call herself an architect, but never applied for this job title. She also studied singing for seven years in Stuttgart with Eugene Rabine, in Munich with Josef Metternich and in Salzburg with Marjana Lipovšek . After confusion over the classification of her voice, she left her last position as a mezzo-soprano in 2000 with Tamar Rachum at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. Her first smaller classical engagements followed in the Hamburg Chamber Opera, where she made her debut as Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte in 2000.

Her first own cabaret show was in Munich in 2001 in the Wirtshaus zum Isartal. Your companion on the accordion was Martin Keller. Her next companion was Katharina Amann, who left in 2001.
