Katharina Marie Wesselmann (* 1976 in Tübingen ) is a German-Swiss classical philologist .

Life

After high school in 1995 at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule Tübingen and the licentiate in 2004 summa cum laude (study of Greek and Latin philology and art history) at the University of Basel , she was 2004-2018 teacher of Latin and Greek at school on Cathedral Square and at the secondary school Bäumlihof. In 2007 she acquired the teaching diploma for high school at the PH FHNW . From 2004 to 2009 she was an assistant in Greek Philology, Department of Classical Studies, University of Basel. After completing her doctorate in 2010 summa cum laude at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Basel with her thesis Herodotus heres historiae. The mythical legacy of Greek historiography , she was lecturer for specialist didactics in Latin and Greek at the University of Education (University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland) from 2012 to 2018. From 2009 to 2015 she was a research assistant at the Basel Homer Commentary . After her habilitation in Classical Philology in 2018 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Basel with a commentary on the 7th chant of the Homeric Iliad as part of the Basel General Commentary, she became Professor of Didactics in Ancient Languages ​​at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 2019 .
