Katharina Rohrer

Katharina Rohrer (also Kat Rohrer ; * 1980 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film director .

life and work

Rohrer spent her childhood and youth in Vienna. She is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York . Her graduate film The Search was awarded as best short film at the La Femme Film Festival in Los Angeles . In 2002 she founded the film production company GreenKat Productions with Tom Greenman . In 2009 her short film Fatal Promises , which deals with human trafficking , was shown at the European Forum Alpbach .

The documentary Back to the Fatherland , which was completed in 2017, was shown at international film festivals and received a lot of media attention. The film was registered for the Austrian Film Prize 2019 .

Katharina Rohrer is the daughter of the journalist Anneliese Rohrer . She lives in Vienna and New York.
