Måneskin is an Italian rock band from Rome , best known for participating in the talent show X Factor in 2017 . She won the Sanremo Festival 2021 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song Zitti e buoni .

Band history

The four band members met at school and decided in 2016 to form the band Måneskin . Because the bassist Victoria De Angelis comes from Denmark, the name chosen was the Danish word for moonlight (Danish pronunciation [ ˈmɔːnəˌske̝nˀ ]). With a mix of styles of rock, pop and reggae , the group succeeded in joining Manuel Agnelli's team in the eleventh season of X Factor in 2017 . She was traded as the favorite to win, but lost to Lorenzo Licitra in the final . Then the first EP Chosen was released .

In early 2018 the band toured Italian clubs; in March she presented an Italian single for the first time with Morirò da re . In October 2018, in preparation for the first studio album, the band made it to number one in the Italian charts for the first time with the ballad Torna a casa . The album entitled Il ballo della vita was released in November and also topped the chart. Further successful singles such as L'altra dimensione and Le parole lontane followed in 2019 .

At the end of 2020 Måneskin returned with the piece Vent'anni . In March the band won the Sanremo Festival 2021 with the rock song Zitti e buoni . In the same month the album Teatro d'ira - Vol. I was released , which again reached the top of the chart. With Zitti e buoni , the group also won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in May .
