Watch Me (also known as Watch Me (Whip / Nae / Nae) ) is the debut single by the American rapper Silentó . In March 2015, he was signed to Capitol Records , who released the track as a single with an accompanying music video . The song made it into multiple country charts and went viral on YouTube with over 1.5 billion views. The song reached over 2 million sales in November 2015 and sold over 2.44 million copies through June 2016.

The song was released on May 5, 2015. From August 28 to September 6, 2015, Silentó recorded a remixed version for Nickelodeon to promote his Labor Day weekend gigs.
Music video
The music video was uploaded to Silentó's Vevo channel on YouTube on June 25, 2015 and filmed in Atlanta , Georgia . Marc Klas field led directing . The video shows several dance scenes in a sports hall and in videos of spectators. Lil Scrappy and Rich White Ladies can also be seen in the video. As of August 2018, it has received over 1.5 billion views on YouTube, making it one of the portal's 50 most watched videos .
DanceOn campaign
Digital media company DanceOn was instrumental in the song's success. After signing a deal with Silentó, DanceOn reached out to its network of dance content creators to create instructional videos for the song for the #WatchMeDanceOn campaign. Fifty of their video artists made videos which they then published on YouTube. Immediately, they gained popularity, reaching more than 250 million views in less than three months. The campaign launched on April 13, 2015, and by May 22, 2015, sales of the song tripled from 17,000 units per week to 42,000 per week.
reception
The song received mostly positive reviews for its dance performance. It also received a nomination for "Song of Summer" at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards and another nomination for an R&B / Hip-Hop song at the Teen Choice Awards . The Australian side Irkitated , however, calls it one of the absolutely "worst songs".
