Go_A is a Ukrainian Folktronica - band . She would have represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ) with the song Solowej . However, the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The band will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 .

history

The group was founded in 2012 by Taras Shevchenko. The members come from different regions of Ukraine. The singer Kateryna Pavlenko comes from Nischyn , Igor Didenschuk comes from Lutsk , John Hryhoryak from Chernivtsi Oblast and Shevchenko himself comes from Kiev . All of them were previously active in the hard rock scene, Kateryna Pawlenko was previously also active as a choir director. Igor Didenschuk, on the other hand, plays over 30 instruments, while Taras Shevchenko was also active in the rap scene.

The first song by the group Kolyada was released in December 2012. In social networks, this song quickly spread and received a lot of positive feedback. After all, the combination of folklore with electronic music was rather unusual. In addition, the singer Kateryna Pavlenko uses white singing .

In November 2016, the band's debut album, Go to the Sound, was released on the Moon Records label. In the same year the band won the competition "The Best Track in Ukraine" and was nominated for the title Kiss FM Opening of the Year .

At the beginning of 2017, Go_A recorded the Christmas single Generous Evening in collaboration with Katya Chilly . In the same year the band took part in a television concert folk music .

In January 2020 it was announced that the group would take part in the Ukrainian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 Widbir 2020 . After the group successfully qualified for the final on February 8, 2020, Go_A won the Widbir 2020 final on February 22, 2020. They were the first winners of the Widbir, which received both the highest number of points from the jury and televoting. Accordingly, the band should have represented Ukraine in 2020 at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ). However, the Eurovision Song Contest has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The band will therefore represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
