Alyosha ( Ukrainian Олена Олександрівна Кучер ; born May 14, 1986 in Zaporozhye , Ukrainian SSR , real name Олена Кучер , transcribed Olena Kutscher ) is a Ukrainian singer .

Career

Her first single, Right Beside of You , was released in Switzerland in summer 2009 and hit the charts. The album The Right Side debuted three months later at number 67 and improved to number eight.

Participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010

At Euro Vision Song Contest 2010 Alyosha represented the Ukraine. First of all, the singer took part in a new preliminary decision, which became necessary after the new program director of the NTU was not satisfied with the internal choice of the original representative Vasyl Lasarowytsch . In this new preliminary decision, she appeared with the song To Be Free , which ultimately won. After the preliminary decision, however, it turned out that To Be Free was already published in 2008 and was also a plagiarism of Knock Me Out by Linda Perry and Grace Slick. As a result, a new song had to be selected. The decision was made on March 25th for the environmental policy Sweet People . Since the new song was only selected after the so-called deadline, the NTU had to pay a fine, the amount of which was not reported to the public.

The English-language text of the song Sweet People was written by the singer herself and the music was composed with her sound producer Boris Kukoba. She reached the finals at the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo, where she finished tenth. She then visited Germany for a few concerts to promote her single. In May Sweet People rose to number 73 in the German singles charts. It also hit the charts in Belgium (60th) and the Czech Republic (14th).
