Mélovin

Mélovin (born April 11, 1997 in Odessa , Ukraine ; actually Ukrainian Костянтин Миколайович Бочаров Kostjantyn Mykolajowytsch Botscharow ) is a Ukrainian singer-songwriter .

Mélovin won the sixth season of the casting show X-Factor Ukraine in 2015 .

In 2017 he took part in the Ukrainian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , Widbir . With the English-language song "Wonder" he took third place. In 2018 Mélovin was again a candidate for Widbir and won with the English-language song "Under The Ladder". Thus he represented his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon . Mélovin reached there 17th place in the Grand Final.

Mélovin is a stage name formed from the word Halloween and the surname of the British fashion designer Alexander McQueen . His fans call themselves Mélovinators. He wears a dark contact lens on his left eye that has become one of his trademarks over the years. At first glance, his black clothes make him a representative of the “Gothic” style. However, he commented on this as follows: "I don't dress in Gothic style, but have discovered the real me and my own style over the years."
