Senhit Zadik Zadik (born October 1, 1979 in Bologna ), known by the stage name Senhit (formerly Senit ), is an Italian singer of Eritrean descent. She represented the country of San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 . and should also represent it at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam . However, the competition had to be canceled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

Life

Senhit grew up with her Eritrean parents in the northern Italian city of Bologna, but at the beginning of her career she looked for engagements in Germany and Switzerland in 1999 . She has worked on musical performances of Fame , Hair and 2001 The Lion King . In 2002 she finally returned to Italy, where she released her first two albums in 2006 and 2007, Senit and Un tesoro è necessariamente nascosto . In 2009 her third album So high in English followed . In 2017 she released the album Hey Buddy .

In February 2011 she was presented as a participant for San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in May 2011 in Düsseldorf . It was the country's second ESC participation. With the English-language title Stand By , she did not manage to qualify for the final.
