Jessika (real life Jessica Muscat ; born February 27, 1989 in Mosta ) is a Maltese singer and songwriter .

Life

Jessika was discovered in 2008 during the Malta Song for Europe Festival , where she performed with the song Tangled . In the same year she released the song Sweet Temptation and reached second place in the Malta Hit Song Festival . The following year she gave concerts in England and took singing lessons from Seth Riggs in Hollywood . In 2011 she did her bachelor's degree in communication science and teaching .

In 2011, Jessika took part for the first time in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , with the song Down Down Down . The following year she participated again with the song Dance Romance . In 2013 she was again in the preliminary round with Ultra Violet , which was written by Philip Vella , Gerard James Borg and Thomas G: son . In the following edition, the singer won the televoting with the single Hypnotica , but in the end she only achieved eighth place due to the jury voting. In 2014 she reached the semi-finals again with the song Fandango , which took place on November 21, 2014 in Marsa . She reached the finals and finished ninth. In 2016 she reached seventh place in the final with The Flame .

In 2018, she applied to the San Marinese online preliminary round 1in360 and was chosen by the jury among the best eleven candidates. There she sang the song Who We Are together with Irol, with which she reached the finals. However, Irol decided to give up his rap part. Instead, the German singer Jenifer Brening stepped in for him. The two finally won the preliminary round and represented San Marino on May 10th in the second semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 . However, they could not qualify for the final.

Muscat currently works as a singer, actress and teacher of Spanish .
