Kathrien Plückhahn

Kathrien Plückhahn (born September 14, 1958 in Berlin ) is a former German helmsman in rowing . Her greatest success was the silver medal in the quadruple scull at the 1978 World Championships.

Athletic career

The 1.68 m tall Kathrien Plückhahn had a competition weight of less than 50 kilograms. The helmswoman from the women's rowing club at Wannsee won her first German championship title in the double quad in 1977. At the 1978 World Championships on Lake Karapiro in New Zealand, Anne Dickmann , Veronika Walterfang , Petra Finke , Sabine Reuter and Kathrien Plückhahn took second place, 1.42 seconds behind the Bulgarians. The following year, Karin Belzer rowed for Dickmann at the 1979 World Championships . The crew took ninth place in this line-up. In 1980 the rowers from the Federal Republic of Germany missed participation in the Olympic rowing regatta because of the Olympic boycott .

In 1981 Kathrien Plückhahn did not drive the quadruple , but the foursome with the helmswoman . Together with Karola Brandt , Christel Lutter , Ellen Becker , Iris Völkner , she finished fifth at the 1981 World Championships after the Bulgarians had been disqualified. In 1984 Kathrien Plückhahn took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles with a double scull . Anne Dickmann, Regina Kleine-Kuhlmann , Ute Kumitz , Sabine Reuter and Kathrien Plückhahn took last place in their preliminary run, but qualified second in the hope race for the finals. In the final, they finished fourth, 0.79 seconds behind the third-placed Danes.

German championships

Kathrien Plückhahn won a total of seven German championship titles in the four-four, which was held with a helmsman until 1984.

There were also three championship titles in a four-man with a helmsman.
