Kathrin Gerlof (born January 3, 1962 in Köthen , Saxony-Anhalt ) is a freelance journalist and author.

After a two-year traineeship at the General German Intelligence Service (ADN) in Potsdam , she studied from 1982 to 1986 in the journalism section at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. Between 1986 and 1995 she worked as an editor in various daily newspapers, most recently as editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Junge Welt .

Kathrin Gerlof has been working as a freelance journalist and author since 1995, and also as a freelance filmmaker in the first few years. For the film production "Kaos Film- und Video" Cologne, short films and film essays a. a. about the right-wing intellectual elite in Germany and anti-Semitism in East Germany.

Since 2013 she has been writing satires on a regular basis in the section Flatterung des neue Deutschland . She has been part of the editorial team of the alternative business newspaper OXI since 2016 .

Kathrin Gerlof has two grown children and lives in Berlin .
