Buds of the rose 'Kathryn Morley'

The bushy, upright, strongly branched rose 'Kathryn Morley' forms a compact, strong shrub with long shoots. The rose plant is about 90 cm to 150 cm high and about 100 cm wide. The strongly growing shoots can be pulled to a climbing rose about 180 cm high .

The individual, sometimes tuft-like arranged, pale pink colored flowers made up of around 40 curved petals form a large, bowl-shaped flower. The petals are arranged asymmetrically and have characteristic small, intertwined petals in the center of the flower. The flowers become lighter towards the edge. The rose is characterized by a long-lasting, strong scent of myrrh and old roses . The loosely filled flowers are 10 to 12 cm tall and ideally form a flower shape that resembles a filled teacup and saucer. The rose has long, large, medium to dark green, robust leaves.

The remounting rose is hardy ( USDA climate zones 5b to 10b). It blooms continuously from May to autumn and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .

The rose is suitable for planting low flower borders, mixed borders - for example together with cranesbill - and cottage gardens . The rose 'Kathryn Morley' is also used in floristry in lush, natural flower arrangements.

The rose variety is shown in numerous rosaries and gardens around the world, including the Auckland Regional Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, New York Botanical Garden , San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, Alnwick Garden and the German Rosarium Dortmund .

Naming

Kathryn Morley's parents won the right to give the rose the name of their daughter, who had died at the age of 18 , at a charity event organized by the Variety Club of Great Britain .
