Kathy Tyers

Kathy Tyers (born July 21, 1952 in Long Beach , California ) is an American science fiction writer.

Life

Kathy Tyers came early into contact with music since her mother in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra of 20th Century Fox played, and her father founder and director of the Shasta Jazz Festival in Redding was California. Her childhood was shaped by the stories about Robin Hood and Peter Pan , the music of Paul McCartney and the works of JRR Tolkien . In junior high school and high school , she wrote her first stories.

She then attended Montana State University , where she earned a degree in molecular biology. After graduating, she worked as a technician in a laboratory. She then returned to college and taught the lower grades.

In 1983 she began work on her first book, Firebird . She completed the story and in a writing group where she got reviews from like-minded people, she revised it and sent it to a publisher. Bantam Spectra Books published the book in 1986. Your first book was followed by a trilogy consisting of Fusion Fire (1988), Crystal Witness (1989) and Shivering World (1991).

Bantam Spectra made her an offer to write Star Wars stories . She immediately accepted and wrote her first bestseller, The Bakura Pact (1993). She dedicated this book to John Williams .

After The Bakura Pact , she wrote another book for Bantam Spectra ( One Mind's Eye ; not published in German either). Afterwards she became increasingly concerned with "Christian Science Fiction", but after a few failures in this area she returned to her old genre in 1999 with new editions of Firebird and Fusion Fire .

Now, Shelly Shapiro, Star Wars chief editor turned at Del Rey Books to Tyers and asked her a tape with the series Legacy of the Jedi -Ritter to write, after Planet of the Lost was born. In 2001 she received the Mount Herman Christian Writers Conference's Pacesetter , an award for her work on Christian science fiction. A new version of Shivering World was commissioned and released in 2004.

In 2005, Eat my martian dust , a story from the Fireball universe, was her last science fiction novel for the time being.

Currently, Kathy Tyers is a consultant to several writers for the Christian Writers Guild and is writing a biography. She lives in Montana.
