Katrin Herbel

Katrin Herbel (* 1972 in Heilbronn ) is a German video artist and performance artist.

After first working with various regional groups, Herbel studied fine art at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts from 1994 to 2001 , first with Mara Mattuschka , and from 1997 with Marina Abramović . In 2000 she received a studio grant from the state of Lower Saxony in the artist village of Schöppingen .

Her works were shown at the Braunschweig Film Festival in 1996 and 1997 and at the European Media Art Festival in Osnabrück in 1998 and at the Fridericianum in Kassel. In 1999 she took part in the "Fresh Air" exhibition of the Abramovic class in Weimar. In 2001 she took part in an exhibition of masterpieces at the Kunstverein Braunschweig . In 2002 her work was shown in the old Wiehrebahnhof in Freiburg im Breisgau. Other works by her were shown in the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin and at the ISCM World New Music Festival 2006 in the Forum Neues Musiktheater at the Stuttgart State Opera. She also appeared as an illustrator of a book by Michael Wagener and as a member of the artist groups Winf and Independent Performance Group .
