Katrine Hoop

Katrine Hoop (born December 17, 1970 in Tönning ) is a Danish-German activist and author .

Life and work

Hoop belongs to the Danish-Frisian minority in southern Schleswig . She is the niece of the writer and artist Hein Hoop .

After graduating from high school in 1991 at the Danish Duborg-Skolen grammar school in Flensburg , she studied social pedagogy and criminology in Hamburg , where she worked as a street worker and school social worker in the public service .

In 2007 she took over the management of the Danish cultural center Aktivitetshuset in Flensburg. From 2012 to 2018 she was employed as a communications officer and project manager at the Danish School Association for Southern Schleswig.

Hoop has made numerous contributions to discussions and lectures in and for the Danish minority and was honored for this in 2011 with the Grænseforeningens Kulturpris of the Danish Border Association in Copenhagen .

From 2015 to 2018 she played a key role as co-initiator and blogger of the “Refugees Welcome Flensburg” project. In 2017, Hoop was awarded the Silke Hinrichsen Prize of the Women's Forum of the South Schleswig Voters' Association (SSW) in Flensburg for its commitment to a welcoming culture .

Katrine Hoop lives in Flensburg and has a grown son.

Awards

  • In 2011 Hoop received the Grænseforeningens Kulturpris from the Danish Border Association in Copenhagen.
  • In 2017, Hoop was awarded the Silke Hinrichsen Prize of the SSW Women's Forum in Flensburg.
