Katsunuma Seizo
Katsunuma Seizō ( Japanese 勝 沼 精 蔵 ; born August 28, 1886 in Shizuoka Prefecture ; died November 9, 1963 in Nagoya ) was a Japanese medic.
Live and act
Katsunuma Seizō graduated from Tōkyō University in 1911 . He dealt with the histological-chemical analysis of oxidases . In 1919 he described the redox enzymes in cells and explained their relationship to tissue iron. In 1924 his work Intrazellulare Oxydation und Indophenolblausynthese was published in German. In 1926 he received the Academy of Sciences Prize for his research . Katsunuma also conducted research in the fields of geriatrics and aviation medicine .
From 1947 Katsunuma was a member of the Academy of Sciences, in 1949 he became President of Nagoya University . In 1954, Katsunuma was honored as a person with special cultural merits and was awarded the Order of Culture in the same year . In 1955 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine .
Katsunuma was buried in Somei Cemetery in Toshima District of Tōkyō.
