Kattendijke ( Zeeland Kattendieke ) is a small village on the former island of Zuid-Beveland in the Dutch province of Zeeland . The village has 530 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It is one of the oldest villages in South Beveland.
The village is popular with divers because of its convenient location on the Oosterschelde . It was created before the thirteenth century by damming the Deesche Watergang on an area gained by this. Kattendijke has been part of the Goes municipality since 1970 .

The coat of arms of Kattendijke is a silver shield with a blue horizontal stripe in the middle. Above the basic colors there is a St. Andrew's cross , which is composed alternately of the colors gold and red in square fields.
Imperial monuments
There are three so-called Rijksmonumenten (imperial monuments ) in Kattendijke :
- the former Catholic , now Reformed Church ( Hervormde Kerk ), Dorfstrasse (Dorpsstraat) 53 from the 15th century;
- the gate of this church from the first half of the 17th century
- Former settlement of the former Cistercian monastery at Kattendijk from the 12th century ( archaeological site - see also: Ter Doest monastery ).
A parish is mentioned in Kattendijke as early as 1251 ( parish of Kloetinge ). It was also the Cistercians, after they had built their grangie in Kattendijke , who built the dikes to gain land and thus made the marshland usable.
traffic
When in 1927 the Spoorweg-Maatschappij Zuid-Beveland , each starting from Goes, opened three more lines, Kattendijke also got its own train station (in operation from 1927 to 1934).
The Dutch fishing license plate, which must be affixed to the bow of sea fishing vessels, consists of the letters KD , followed by a registration number if they have their home port in Kattendijke.
