Kaunakakai is a CDP in Maui County on the island of Molokaʻi in the US state of Hawaii . It is located in the middle of the south coast. The area of ​​Kaunakakai is 8.1 km², of which 2.8 km² is water. 3425 inhabitants live in the place (status: 2010 census). It has the largest harbor on the island and the longest pier (518 m) in Hawaii. The airport is located 13 kilometers northwest of the city.

Public facilities

This is where the Molokai General Hospital is located, as well as a health center, the Molokai Community Health Center, which offers general medical, dental and psychological treatments.

The University of Hawaii operates a Maui Community College in Kaunakakai.

Molokai's only public library is also here.

Demographics

The 3,425 inhabitants are 22.4% Hawaiians, 22.2% Asian, 15.4% Euro-Americans, 5.9% Hispanics, 0.5% African-Americans and 37.4% multiracial (as of 2010).
