Takafumi Kawabata ( Japanese 川端 隆普 実 , Kawabata Takafumi ; born June 26, 1954 ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

Career

Kawabata made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament 1972/73 . However, since this was consistently unsuccessful, he withdrew again from the international jumping area for over six years and only started at the national level. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1978 in Lahti , she reached 40th place on the normal hill and 41st place on the large hill. On December 27, 1979 he made his debut in the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup . Already in the first competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo, he reached 7th place and was among the top ten. The rest of the season was also successful for him. In his last World Cup competition in his home town of Sapporo , he achieved fourth place, the best result of his career. At the end of the season he was in 29th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

Kawabata ended his active ski jumping career with the start at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . He reached 29th place on the normal hill and jumped 32nd on the large hill.
