Kcell is a cell phone company in Kazakhstan with headquarters in Almaty . It was founded in 1998 as a brand name by GSM Kazakhstan and today is 51 percent owned by Fintur Holdings BV ( Telia Company and Turkcell ) and 49 percent by the Kazakh telecommunications company KazakhTelecom . It is one of the country's leading mobile service providers in the GSM standard.

Kcell currently has around 13.5 million customers through the two brand names Kcell and Activ . The provider's network is now available in over 2499 locations in Kazakhstan.
